Zoopy relaunches service and adds TV and mobile offerings
Issued by: Zoopy

Zoopy, an online and mobile social media community based in South Africa, has unveiled an overhaul of their service, including a new identity, a new website and the introduction of two new services: Zoopy TV and Zoopy Mobile.

The extensive changes take into account the feedback received from Zoopy users, a commitment to faster and simpler processes and the need to broaden access to visitors who want to use the site from any location, beyond their desktop computers.

Zoopy Mobile is a WAP site that can be viewed by pointing your phone's browser to m.zoopy.com. It mirrors almost all of the website's functionality, including the ability to watch videos at a download size that suits you and your airtime package.

The rebranding and new site have already been a hit with users, according to CEO Jason Elk. "As we¹ve grown, we¹ve found ourselves becoming a service with many more applications than we had first imagined. We needed to match our identity with where our company is going, and our new logo does a great job of reflecting the more advanced Zoopy brand, while keeping a fun feel in a far more subtle way - and messages of support from users have been pouring in from early this morning," says Elk.

As far as new functionality goes, Zoopy has been improved significantly. Elk explains, "We went back to the drawing board, page by page, function by function. We rebuilt the things that were working and reinvented the things that weren¹t. Our new site now gives the media uploaded to Zoopy a cleaner, fresher environment in which to shine. Where some functionality used to be three clicks away, they¹re now right there, where you intuitively want to find them."

Two additional highlights of the new site include Topics and Zoopy TV. Topics are dedicated areas that combine content produced by users with content produced by Zoopy, all around a central point of interest that impact the world in some way. The first Topic to go live has been South African Elections 2009 at http://www.zoopy.com/elections2009.

Zoopy TV, says Elk, is something that Zoopy has been building since Zoopy began. But until now this content has never been clearly distinguished from media uploaded by users.

"We¹ve always believed in adding interesting content to the community. Content that a user ordinarily wouldn¹t have access to. Thabo Mbeki¹s knighting and the on-the-field Springbok victory parade coverage, for example. Zoopy TV is now a separate platform within our site that showcases the content produced by our multimedia content teams. As we continue to grow Zoopy TV, there will be much more content to enjoy that involves collaboration and partnerships with other interesting people and producers."

Zoopy TV can be viewed at http://www.zoopy.com/tv.

Elk's message to Zoopy users? "The future of Zoopy is brighter than ever. Your contribution to the community has been invaluable. Everything on Zoopy is for you, so enjoy, come back often and look out for more to come."
