Malawi: GTV partners with a local bank
By: Gregory Gondwe

The pan-African pay-TV satellite service GTV has partnered with National Bank of Malawi (NBM) to run a finance facility that will allow prospective clients acquiring GTV equipment and services.

GTV sales and marketing manager, Alan Grimes said the equipment and installation loan would be repaid in six months.

“The advantage is that [the] National Bank of Malawi is already handling all subscription payments for the company,” said Grimes.

NBM public relations manager, Anne Magola said the facility would enable the bank to offer loans to consumers since it will cater for GTV facilities.

“This opportunity also extends to our customers who are on employer guarantee as well as those that are not our customers,” she said.

“Personal account holders can apply for the loan directly to the bank which would among others cover costs of equipment, installation and subscription,” she added.

Grimes said they are offering Africa a choice of cheap and affordable rates for satellite television, which is going at K5,150 per month for our major bouquet, the G-Plus.

The meeting between GTV and the bank was held in Blantyre was also attended by GTV Group agency manager, Paul Fitchet who oversees the company's Africa operations. He said they hope customers will now take advantage of the loan facility to access GTV services.
