Says Ryan Till, COO for Primedia Broadcasting, “There is a process underway to determine the fundamentals of a new levy which affects all radio stations. We, as individual stations and the radio industry, have been engaging with the record industry on this. We are not going to debate contested legal points in the public domain, even in the face of factual inaccuracies, and we will respect the outcome of the process in which we are involved.

“However, it is unfortunate that Sony BMG's untimely decision to withdraw the rights for digital sale has effectively denied the music industry and the artists they represent the opportunity to earn revenue from the legitimate sale of music in the interim.”
