Do you have the knack for radio?

Hot Jocks – a 94.7 Highveld Stereo initiative sponsored by Wimpy – is looking to showcase a colourful array of gifted individuals considering a career in broadcasting. From traffic reporters and news journalists to presenters and writers, 94.7 is looking for young undiscovered people with quality voices.

“We're looking for raw talent – someone who has a knack for radio. We will then groom these individuals into professional broadcasters,” says 94.7 Highveld Stereo station manager Ravi Naidoo.

“94.7 Highveld Stereo has a strong focus on investing in talent long-term and giving people the platform to develop on-air. If you look at the presenters currently on 94.7 Highveld Stereo, a number of them were ‘scouted' from talent searches like Hot Jocks and gone on to have their own shows. It's great to see young people given an opportunity to showcase their talents and grow their profiles at the station and within the broadcast industry.”

Auditions

Auditions will take place on Saturday, 5 April 2008, at Jabulani Mall in Soweto, 12 April at Eastrand Mall and 19 April at Clearwater Mall. Each contestant will have an opportunity to impress a panel of judges.

After each week, Jeremy Mansfield and the Rude Awakening will showcase the top 10 potential presenters, two a day from Monday to Friday and then ask the audience to vote online at www.highveld.co.za for their favourite talent. They can also vote on their cellphones at http://highveld.mobi.

On Friday 25 April, all 28 of the finalists will be invited to an outside broadcast at Primedia Broadcasting, where two winners will be announced and given the opportunity to go on air.
