Living up to expectations Collyer Lessick recently produced a winning formula with a show-stopping production for the Unilever Domestos brand, on behalf of their client Ogilvy Action.
Working with brand activation specialists Ogilvy Action, the brief from Unilever was to look for ways in which consumers could interact with the Domestos brand. After much brainstorming the “The Flying Germs Show” was envisioned creating a fantasy world of goodies and baddies set in the fictitious land of DomestiCity, with an amusing trip into the underbelly of the germ world with good triumphing over evil.
In conjunction with Ogilvy Action, the show was developed, produced and directed by the ever professional team of Collyer Lessick and written by prized playwright Jaci de Villiers. This theatrical spectacle was directed by award winning actress Gina Shmukler and featured Isidingo star Emmanuel Castis as Dom, Bianca le Grange of Idols fame as Princess Sodium, and virtual performances by renowned actor Craig Urbani and comedian Alan Committie. Brendan Pollock was the talented choreographer behind this breathtaking production.
The Innibos Festival in Nelspruit and The Gateway Theatre of Shopping in Durban were the selected sites for this activation, which represented a large concentration of the target market in a short period of time. Consumers were left spellbound as they were experientially engaged, ensuring that the message received broke through the clutter and got to the consumer via this dynamic experience.
Integrating the theatrical beauty of a full-blown stage production with the dazzle and brilliance of technology in unique multi-dimensional scenic designs, sound, lighting, lavish costumes, singers, specialty artists, dancers and stage illusions, Collyer Lessick ensured that this breathtaking production complemented the above the line marketing communications promising a dynamic experience for the consumer and Unilever.
Dear Neil
I would like to congratulate and thank you and your entire team for the most phenomenal activation.
The Flying Germ Show was a huge a success and your company did an amazing job on executing a dream both for Ogilvy Action and Domestos. You exceeded all our expectations.
From selecting your production managers, to the cast, crew, choreographers and directors, to the set builders and costume makers - every detail was exceptional.
When I received the first indication that our team in Durban are flying high (excuse the pun) with their thoughts and creativity, I knew CLA will be the company who will make this a success, and like I said, all expectations were exceeded.
I would appreciate it if you could thank each and every person involved on our behalf and we are looking forward to sharing even more success on this activation through awards and additional exposure we are receiving purely from word of mouth.
It was indeed a sad day yesterday when I realized it's the last show but who knows what the future holds, maybe a sequel….
Please convey our heartfelt thanks to your entire team and it was an absolute pleasure working with such a professional, dedicated and fun team.
Kind regards
Noeline van den Berg
Activation Director
