African Abundance was the theme chosen to celebrate Siemens Billion Bash held on 11 September at Siemens Park. The event was to show appreciation and thanks to staff for achieving the amazing R1 billion order entry milestone.
Staff were treated to a communal lunch in an intimate and exotic atmosphere created under a large red Bedouin tent. Collyer Lessick and Associates (
CLA) were on hand to ensure that the event was coordinated and managed in an informal, celebratory and relaxed manner. Large comfortable cushions with low tables and chairs were set up in the tent adding to the informal yet stylish setting. Rich, vibrant colours adorned the interior, creating a lush and opulent atmosphere. African rugs covered the floors and walls, while beaten brass pots, plates and vases added to the ambiance. Intelligent lighting used inside the tent created beautiful contrasts and mood.
Welcome drinks of Mageu and ginger beer were served in African Venda clay pots, while waitresses offered rose water filled wooden bowls for guests to wash their hands.
Inspired by the diversity of Africa, the menu was based around an African celebration. In true African style an ox on the spit was prepared for the guests, together with other traditional dishes which were served on platters. While enjoying this sumptuous feast, the guests were entertained by comedian David Kau who had the staff in fits of laughter as they relaxed at this celebratory gathering.
Meat that was left over was delivered that evening to a local children's home which Siemens regularly supports.
Set up for the Billion Bash commenced on 10 September and
CLA was present the entire time to coordinate all entertainment and suppliers as well as ensure that the necessary safety and structural requirements were adhered to, guaranteeing a smooth flow of activities during the day.
“As usual, this event was excellently executed - many thanks.” ~ Sharon Naude, Siemens.
