Samantha Page, newly appointed editor of O, The Oprah Magazine

Page has been praised in the industry for spotting and nurturing African writing talent during her two-year stint as features editor on the magazine. More than once, she has functioned as acting editor when the magazine was between editors.

Jane Raphaely, chairman of Associated Magazines and editor-in-chief of O, said that she is not just the best person for this great job, but the perfect person. “Her six years on O magazine and her steady rise through the ranks have made her expert, experienced and trusted by the team. She is poised to take the magazine to new heights and we look forward to that."

Raphaely and Page have just returned from conferring with the O team in New York on magazine trends in both markets. South Africa remains the only country outside the US where O magazine is published.

Qualified as an English teacher, Page joined the magazine world in 2000 and found a home with O magazine two years later. “Working on O magazine has always been more than just a job to me,” said Page. “Since I started at O magazine six years ago, it's been about becoming more of who I already am; and also about using my life to serve the women of South Africa and help them live their best lives. I still feel like I am part of something special and that is what drives me to keep achieving and dreaming big. I am thrilled, humbled and excited about the opportunity to edit O, The Oprah Magazine.”
