IJTJ provides a space for dialogue among policy makers, academics, activists and practitioners in the field, and seeks particularly to encourage input from authors in countries dealing with transitional justice challenges.

The IJTJ key note speakers for the evening will be Dr Jaime Malamud-Goti, former solicitor general of Argentina and senior presidential advisor who has further pursued a career as a legal scholar and ethicist; and Roy Gutman, a Pullitzer-prize winning journalist for his reportage from Bosnia-Herzegovina concentration camps and author of the recently published book How We Missed the Story: Osama Bin Laden, the Taliban and the Hijacking of Afghanistan.

A traditional dinner will be preceded by meetings of the IJTJ International Editorial and Advisory Boards, comprising internationally acclaimed specialists, who lend their name to the publication, in itself a forum not only to peer review submissions but also to showcase their own work.

While the publication was initiated in 2007, The Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR), the Human Rights Centre, University of California, Berkeley and Oxford University Press have combined to formally launch the International Journal of Transitional Justice.

This will be the first official launch of the book, although the current issue is Volume 2, Issue 1 April 2008, with the next issue to be released in July 2008.

The journal can be purchased through Oxford University Press (www.IJTJ.oxfordjournals.org) and is not available at retail or book stores.
