Prefix relaunches Miningweekly.com to entrench leading mining news resource status
Issued by: Prefix Technologies

Prefix Technologies has relaunched MiningWeekly.com for Creamer Media with the latest version of Preditor - the CMS for publishers. It is a portal that is truly world-class in the experience it delivers to a hungry news audience. A complete redesign, enhanced multimedia offering and truly informed and up-to-the-minute content has been combined to put a strong stake in the ground as the world's top mining news resource.

“This is an exciting step for us,” says Creamer Media CEO Kenneth Creamer, “MiningWeekly.com represents the fulfillment of our vision to be a leading new media publisher that fully utilises text, images, video and audio to deliver on our content promise to readers.”

New features to look out for are the customisable homepage, a world news map filter and fantastic multimedia section. Visitors can customise their homepage view to show only the sections they are most interested in and easily focus on continent specific news via an interactive world map. The multimedia library presents an interactive view of all video and audio footage from the now impressive Creamer Media TV archive.

It is expected that the 15,000 people who access the site weekly - most of whom are from outside of South Africa - will take full advantage of the new tools and features that the site provides.

“It really has become a strategic imperative to deliver a rich media experience as a publisher,” continues Creamer, “The Preditor framework not only enables this, but allows us to centrally manage every aspect of the editorial process irrespective of the content format and where or how it may eventually be read.”

The new online experience was made possible through leveraging the latest features of Preditor, the content management platform for publishers from Prefix Technologies. Preditor manages the complete content lifecycle for Creamer Media across all their titles for both print and web formats. Recent improvements to the system's web-portal engines were key to enabling the new Mining Weekly online requirements.

“MiningWeekly.com competes with the best news and broadcast portals in the world,” says Prefix Technologies' Chief Architect Sam Hutchinson, “We're privileged to work with a publisher like Creamer Media who strive to be the best globally in this way. The new user experience we've delivered is something we're very proud of.”
