Founding editor resigns from blunt
After a decade of service, founding editor Miles Masterson has left blunt magazine and Atoll Media, where he also served as a director, to pursue a new career as a freelance journalist, photographer and media consultant.
The title successfully launched in March 1997 with a blend of extreme sports, music and lifestyle content, making an impact on youth culture in South Africa, as well as publishing in this sector, and arguably paving the way for many of the youth titles out there today.
With Masterson at the helm, the magazine also released three successful videos and numerous popular brand extensions, as well as conceptualised many groundbreaking events and projects. During his tenure, which also included becoming associate publisher in 2004,
blunt was nominated for and won many awards - including the Sappi Pica Best Youth magazine in 2005 - as well as several publishing commendations.
