The best of both

Brabys, a more than 100-year-old directories company, is the first company in Africa to enter into a strategic agreement with Google to become an Authorised Google™ AdWords Reseller.
AdWords is an online advertising platform designed to help businesses of all sizes use the web to find new customers by delivering relevant ads when users search for specific products and services.

“Its a great year for both Brabys and Google South Africa, as both organisations benefit from each other's products, services and people,” says Mark Buwalda, director at Brabys Media Holdings. “It's a significant step for South Africa as it means we can locally sell a combination product that is one of the best of its kind in the world. It will also provide employment to people selling this product.”

Powerful advertising reach for local companies

The Authorised Google AdWords Reseller programme allows Brabys, owner of products such as Ananzi.co.za and Brabys.com, to bundle its premium products with Google AdWords. The advantage is that SMEs can - with a small budget and without any risk - see their products and services displayed on some of the best sites in the country, as well as on Google. As an Authorised Google AdWords Reseller, the Brabys sales force is equipped to help local businesses efficiently tap into the power and reach of Google AdWords, over and above the local site exposure it currently offers. Brabys maximises its value to local advertisers by providing high quality customer service and expert professional AdWords account management.

Buwalda elaborates: “We will provide full-service AdWords account management on behalf of local SMEs, from account set-up and activation, to ongoing campaign maintenance and making sure advertisers get optimum results from their spend.”

Specialised training will benefit businesses

This agreement is designed to build on Brabys' existing relationships with marketers, particularly small and medium-sized businesses, and encourage them to use online advertising as a cost-effective way to find and target new customers, whether they are just around the corner or across the country. The team placing ads on behalf of clients has had specialised online as well as direct training on all aspects of the AdWords program - training that is possibly the best in the country.

“This alliance will expose many more businesses to the economic opportunities that the internet offers,” says Stafford Masie, who heads up Google SA. “This is a first on the continent and we are very enthusiastic about what this means for every small business.”

Brabys currently has a staff complement to service clients on a broad set of products and services - both online and in print. It expects to grow this by a further 20% due to this agreement. As a dominant publishing company in its field, it also expects a significant growth in sales.
