TCB Publishing acquires community mag publisher

TCB Publishing announced yesterday, Monday, 23 June 2008, that it has acquired a majority share in WWW Advertising, a Pretoria-based publishing house specialising in community-based magazines. The objective is to extend the footprint of the magazine nationally in the near future, as a result of the potential for growth in this particular market.

WWW Advertising‘s community magazine, known as Who What Where, was launched in Pretoria in 2007 and reports a circulation of 60 000 to date. It is a free community magazine for discerning readers in the LSM 8 - 10 category, bridging the gap between community newspaper and consumer magazine.

Wilhelm Loots, CEO of TCB Publishing, said: “Over the last decade TCB Publishing has established itself as a leading player in the burgeoning custom publishing market in South Africa, and therefore it makes sense for TCB Publishing to now extend its publishing activities into community media - currently the fastest growing media sector in South Africa.

“TCB Publishing was the first publisher in South Africa to publish its entire portfolio of magazines in a ‘flip-through' format on the Internet, and in conjunction with eMagSA, the first to publish an ABC-audited digital magazine in South Africa. Given our experience and groundbreaking work in publishing digital magazines on the Internet, TCB Publishing hopes to bring a new dimension to community media, thereby complementing WWW Advertising's excellent printed publications with an online component. Together with the printed version of Who What Where, we will now also add an online website with a search engine, mobile access and interactive capabilities.”

TCB Publishing's custom magazine titles include the in-flight magazines for South African Express and 1time, and The Blue Train magazine, a number of titles for Blue Chip companies, a specialist luxury lifestyle title for medical professionals, and the online magazine elite

www.whowhatwhere.co.za will be launched in the near future.
