OUTsurance to the rescue of irate motorists, due to Eskom's ongoing load shedding
Issued by: OUTsurance

As a direct response to the widespread ‘rolling blackouts' and load shedding that has disabled traffic robots across the city and left aggravated drivers stranded in long queues, leading Southern African direct short-term insurance company, OUTsurance, has extended its popular pointsmen service.

OUTsurance pointsmen normally scheduled to work only peak hours, will be working double shifts to alleviate the congestion between rush hours, whilst enabling the mobile team to be out in full force during peak hour traffic until the end of January,

“The idea behind our new, rapid-response service is to anticipate blackouts as best we can using Eskom's load shedding schedules and deploy OUTsurance pointsmen to affected intersections before the power is cut and traffic starts tailing back,” explains Peter Cronje, Head of Marketing for OUTsurance, “but the schedules are not always 100 percent accurate, so we'd also like to ask the public to assist us by calling Talk Radio 702's traffic desk on 011 506 3566 and notifying us of the areas affected by the ongoing load shedding by Eskom. Please also be patient and bear with us as we try to get the teams there through the horrendous traffic!”

This extension of the popular OUTsurance Pointsmen initiative has been a collaborative effort and Cronje is quick to thank OUTsurance's partners, namely the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), Talk Radio 702, Traffic Freeflow who manage the project and McCarthy Toyota Gauteng for sponsoring the Quantum minibus that will be used to transport the pointsmen to affected areas.

The OUTsurance mobile pointsmen teams have also been placed on high-alert as part of the company's response to the city's ongoing traffic crisis.

The OUTsurance pointsmen initiative is a reflection of the company's continued commitment to road safety and satisfaction. “We've been inundated with pleas for assistance from frustrated Johannesburg drivers,” observes Cronje, “and are determined to try and help keep the city's motorists moving in any way we can.”
