TGI (Target Group Index) the premier global marketing and advertising database was introduced in South Africa six years ago by Barbara Cooke and Tim Bester. South Africa was the 50th country in the world and the first in Africa to offer this highly acclaimed research method to the local advertiser, advertising, media planning and media owner industries. Since that time the TGI client base has grown substantially and TGI has become an essential knowledge source for the industry it serves.
In order to offer clients a range of new products and services, we are proud to announce the formation of a new company TGI SA (Pty) Ltd. The majority shareholder in this new enterprise is Ask Afrika (Pty) Ltd with Tim Bester and Barbara Cooke retaining a minority interest in the new company. Ask Afrika is the leading South African owned research house and was founded 13 years ago by Andrea Rademeyer.
This new partnership will combine Tim and Barbara's extensive expertise in the areas of branding, media and advertising with Ask Afrika's large evidenced based team of marketing researchers and statisticians. This will allow TGI SA to offer a number of new unique products and a wider range of services than was previously possible.
“Launching TGI in South Africa was an act of faith based on the knowledge that the local advertising industry had been denied proven global information gathering and analytic methods during the long years of isolation. This lack was particularly evident in the area of brand measurement linked to media usage. This faith was supported by both global and local players,” comments Barbara Cooke.
“Having TGI as a part of our proven research methods gives Ask Afrika an entrée into global clients and the support of the KMR Group, the world's largest research company,” comments Andrea Rademeyer.
KMR's Global TGI Director Paul Dickinson welcomed this arrangement, commenting that “Tim and Barbara have had an impressive impact on the South African market with the introduction of TGI, and we are delighted to support this new structure which enables further development of TGI in this country.”
Contact Tim Bester, Barbara Cooke or Grant Robertson for more information about TGI and the new range of products and services that will be available to augment the already established single source data base.
