Trust Barometer launch
Issued by: Ask Afrika

In August 2008, Ask Afrika's 2007 Trust Barometer results will be launched, capping off a fourth year of existence since 2004. Previously this ran as the Most Admired Company Survey. This year the questionnaire has been revised extensively to include a major trust section to supplement the Reputation Questions.

Ask Afrika long ago recognised the importance of reputation to the survival of corporates and developed its own adaptation of the Most Admired Company Survey. It is enhanced this year by the inclusion of an empathy dimension as research has shown that it is not just the cognitive performance dimensions that matter, but also the feelings of empathy for a company. Enhancing the measure further this year is a major trust measurement section. Trust is closely related to reputation, without it reputation is undermined.

“Ask Afrika in fact was the first to introduce the Trust concept four years ago. We now offer the most comprehensive Trust benchmark in the country,” says Sarina de Beer.

The barometer is also differentiated from other trust surveys as the focus is on corporates rather than consumers. Ratings are collected from CEOs and executives.

The results of this survey will, as in previous years, be published in Finweek on the 7th of August. The Star, Pretoria News, Cape Times and Mercury will also run the survey results on the 7th of August.

The Ask Afrika Trust Barometer 2008 Conference will occur soon after, on the 8th of August in Johannesburg. It is sponsored by Finweek, and attendance is by invitation only. A number of case studies will be presented by winning companies, providing valuable insight into how to improve company trust and company reputation.

“As with the Ask Afrika Orange Index we expect this event to be another success in terms of the value of insights delivered to attendees,” says Ask Afrika's Director, Sarina de Beer.
