April 18th marked a special day for Rosie Mthembu of The Fountain of Love, a children's home in Katlehong. Refinery's GM, Pam Marsh, visited the orphanage to give Mama Rosie, who cried tears of joy, a cheque for R26 000.
Rosie Mthembu started a soup kitchen in Katlehong in 2005 for toddlers and children in the community. This has now expanded to a full-fledged home, called The Fountain of Love, a place of safety, of learning and where medical help is also available. But funding is dire.
The Refinery had previously called on the industry to support this initiative by making use of the Flint suite at the Refinery JHB facility.
“I am overwhelmed at the response of the industry. Special thanks go to everyone who helped support this cause. Refinery looks forward to taking up more initiatives like this in future,” comments Pam.
