Steadman Group to launch its services into SA

The Kenyan-based Steadman Group has announced that it will be launching its advertising monitoring and verification services into South Africa during April. Its entry into the local market, in association with Monitoring South Africa (MSA), will not only offer Steadman clients access to the South African media, but also ensure that they enjoy the same high level of service offered by the group in the rest of Africa.

A pioneer of media monitoring in Africa, the Steadman Group has been providing third party measurement and validation tools for the advertising industry for more than 20 years. Its expansion into South Africa, and recently also Nigeria, is part of the company’s strategic roll-out plan into all key economies in African by 2010.

To advertisers, ad agencies, media buyers and owners alike, the high cost of advertising represents a major portion of their marketing budgets. For this reason it has become crucial to verify ad placements and occurances and to cross check this against booking schedules and billings. Steadman’s exclusive, patented technology, allows advertisers to do exactly this across all media platforms, including radio, TV, print, cinema and outdoor. The company’s comprehensive Adex reports also provide media planners with information relating to total gross advertising spends by sector, brand category, brand of choice or any combination of this.

The Steadman Group’s new generation tools do not require pre-encoding or watermarking, and allows the company to capture and index all commercials and print advertising across the board – a feature setting Steadman apart from other similar service offerings.

Monitoring South Africa, Steadman’s South African partner in this venture, was formed in 1994, and is widely regarded as the leading provider of media monitoring, and reputation analysis across all media types, including print, broadcast and online in southern Africa. According to George Waititu, Group MD of Steadman, the partnership will allow MSA’s South African-based clients access to the African media on a daily basis via the group’s extensive African network.
