The Jupiter Drawing Room (Cape Town) has just launched the second Black River F.C. satellite agency, which will be based in Cape Town. Following on the success of the Johannesburg based Black River F.C. agency, Jupiter has decided to bring some of the magic back home.
In 2005, The Jupiter Drawing Room (Cape Town) launched Black River F.C. in Johannesburg, in order to combine the best that Cape Town has to offer with the exuberant energy of Johannesburg.
Darren McKay, who has worked for The Jupiter Drawing Room Cape Town since 1994, is the Founder and Creative Director of the Cape Town based office of Black River F.C. McKay started off his career at The Jupiter Drawing Room (Cape Town) as an Art Director and has worked on iconic brands such as Musica, Hyundai and Nando's to name but a few. Darren left South African shores for six years and worked in the ad industry in London for well-known global agencies, such as M & C Saatchi, TBWA and McCanns. McKay has been the recipient of numerous international awards for his creative work.
Darren then returned to The Jupiter Drawing Room (Cape Town) in 2005 as Creative Director. Speaking about his decision to start up Black River F.C. in Cape Town, McKay says, “I am very excited about starting up a Black River F.C. agency in Cape Town. For me it was the right time to branch out and create something new. I've always wanted to be more personally involved in the brands that I work on and this opportunity will allow me to do just that.”
Commenting on the decision to start up another small agency in Cape Town, Kevan Aspoas, Managing Director of Jupiter Cape Town says, “We have always fostered an entrepreneurial spirit here at Jupiter, so we are fully behind Darren and his decision to start up his own agency, which will form part of The Jupiter Drawing Room (South Africa) & Partners.”
