We have reserved 10 seats for the Heavy Chef Session on October 16th, exclusively for Bizcommunity readers. The Heavy Chef Sessions are monthly events focused on analysing the tools of digital marketing. These quick-fire one-hour events have been running successfully in Cape Town for two years, and are now coming to Johannesburg for the very first time.
October and November Heavy Chef Sessions: Smoke, Mirrors and Social Media Do you get a nagging feeling that there's a bit of overblown marketing hype going around at the moment? These days, there is a new digital agency opening up on every corner, not unlike the days earlier this century when the property market was booming (just before it went ‘BOOM!') and everyone was suddenly an Estate Agent.
Now, it seems, everyone is a New Media Agent. Marketing Managers and MD's are being inundated with meeting requests from guys who've barely been around the business block. Their resume will read: “Successful Blogger” or “Mobile Communications Expert”. What does this mean, really? Dig deeper, and these qualifications can be earned by setting up a page on Blogger.com or working a summer at Cellucity.
And so, with the intention of looking into the truth behind the hype, the next two Heavy Chef Sessions are focused on the topic: “Smoke, Mirrors and Social Media”
Part 1: will be held on Thursday 16th October, for the very first time in Johannesburg, and presented by Fred Roed and Mike Perk, co-founders of World Wide Creative
Part 2: will be held on Wednesday November 26th, also in Johannesburg, and will feature 3 very special guest speakers representing three different perspectives: Mike Stopforth, social media specialist and founder of Afrigator, Arthur Goldstuck, new media analyst and founder of World Wide Worx, and Andy Hadfield, online strategist at First National Bank.
At both events, drinks will be sponsored by Perdeberg Winery and beers supplied by Corona, with additional sponsorship from Twiice International and 24.com.
If you'd like to attend the October Heavy Chef Session, please email Rowan (rowan at heavychef.com) or phone the World Wide Creative studio at 0861 932226. There is no cost to attend, but there are only 10 places left, exclusively for Bizcommunity readers.
