80 St Stithians learners and local dignitaries joined in an informative and educational morning held at the Clear Channel Bird Sanctuary just off William Nicol in Hurlingham on Thursday 8 May.
Owls are the focus for the year and the issues that were raised concentrated around the myths and legends surrounding owls, conservation of owls and their value for humankind. One of the most critical things that any living organism requires to survive is a safe habitat. The educational morning assisted in creating additional awareness beyond the full programme that BirdLife SA planned between 5 and 11 May 2008 to celebrate the year of the owl.
The Clear Channel Bird Sanctuary was developed by Clear Channel Outdoor in partnership with BirdLife SA, St Stithians and the Jhb Parks Board in 2002.
