The Gauteng Film Commission (GFC) has received notice of a possible scam which might be operational in the industry and has issued the following statement, today 4 June 2009. 
Following the withdrawal of financial support from the SABC, the fate of Encounters Festival, which showcases and promotes the documentary industry, hangs in the balance. The festival's organisers appealed for financial backing yesterday, Wednesday, 20 May 2009. 
To keep the winter chills at bay, be sure to catch two of the hottest new Ster-Kinekor releases on circuit this month. 
"Izulu Lami" (My Secret Sky), a feature film directed by South Africa's Madoda Ncayiyana, received the ‘Dikalo Best Feature Film' prize at the International Pan African Film Festival, held in Cannes in April 2009.
